I captured this photo during a backpacking trip in the North Cascades of Washington State. Some friends and I hiked a few miles to a fire lookout, and I captured this photo from the front steps of the lookout. Looking back at this photo reminds me of what it felt like to see this landscape in transition from fall to winter. Captured on Nłeʔkepmx Tmíxʷ (Nlaka'pamux), Coast Salish and Nuxwsa'7aq (Nooksack) indigenous lands.
