A 2006 orange wine made from 100% Vitovska grapes from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Northern Italy. This grape variety is a very rare, ancient grape now only seen in this region in Italy and small plots in Slovenia making this wine a very unique bottle. These grapes were aged for six months on their skins in clay pots sourced from Georgia which were held for ransom by the Georgian mafia when they were originally sourced by the winemakers. Believing that clay pots from Georgia was the superior option, the winemakers paid the hefty price to secure them from the mafia and luckily they did, as the wines produced from these vessels are one of a kind. Pinkish-Amber in hue with intense aromas of resin, pine nuts and ripe peach with an undertone of smoke, honey and sage. On the palate this wine is rich with round tannins and complex textures and notes of dusty minerality. This wine is as unique as it's story.
