For this Expedition edition, I began thinking about creating a piece inspired by Mexico and her land. While I was in Mexico City recently I went to the Frida Kahlo museum - an incredible experience. Very naturally the image of Frida from the back, within a landscape formed in my mind. The road to the horizon captures the eternal influence of Frida - she will exist forever through her Art. The land, ocean and sky all together in the work are for me about the feeling of connection. The fish represent life, motion and growth - Frida lives on among us, and through us, moving us. There is also a feeling of exploration, like we are journeying into an underwater cave. Frida's earrings, hanging hands, are inspired by earrings given to her by Picasso, and seen in this photo by Nickolas Muray, 1939
