Each winter the Old Town area of Fort Collins is lit up with thousands of lights and it’s one of my favorite things to witness. It’s magic to me and it transports me back to my time as a child and that sense of wonder you have at that age this time of year. I’ve always been fascinated with Christmas Lights and I am overtaken by a sense of calm whenever I see them. This shot is an attempt to capture that feeling and share it to the best of my ability. The contrast of the cold and darker tones of the outside of the image and then the “portal” in the center of the wheel to the warmth of the bokeh is sort of a metaphor for the fact that while much of this season is cold and dark there is so much light and warmth to be found as well.
