The other merchants in The Great Panda City will tell you Bihoro is the sharpest dealer on the mountain. They see the fine suit, the intense eyes, and the way they can sell a simple roasted apple stick like it holds the secrets of the cosmos. Their rival, a purveyor of enchanted glass beads, claims Bihoro’s business sense is as cold as the city’s wind. What they don't see is what happens after the stalls are shuttered. Every evening, Bihoro and their rival meet at the city’s edge, where the bamboo thins. They build a small fire, and the competition melts away with the day’s frost. Bihoro passes over a perfectly toasted marshmallow, and their rival shares a story. They push each other to be better by day, only so they have better tales to share by night.
