"The Dentist" is a part of the Cursed Video series, and it came to life from my kids' obsession with lollipops and an impending dental checkup. This video spent quite some time in my drafts because originally, I intended to use the same narrator as in the previous two videos, "Martin" and "Stuart." However, my 2-year-old saw me working on it and was eager to help. I ended up providing him with lines, which he would repeat back with his own unique twist. It then became more of a matter of allowing him to complete the narration at his leisure.. The Cursed Video series often, but not always, touches on a variety of topics such as self-care, mental health, acceptance and making good choices. By presenting these topics in an eerie yet educational style reminiscent of lost archive children's videos, I hope to encourage viewers to reflect on important subjects while enjoying a unique and entertaining story.I began by prompting in Midjourney - gathering images and testing out different characters that might be a good fit to tell this specific story. I then animated the videos in Pika Labs, piecing the clips together in CapCut. The narration was done using CapCut’s text-to-speech feature.
