Supposedly, the human ability to simulate potential future outcomes in the brain is the single biggest advantage we have over the rest of the animal kingdom. When coupled with the fear of rejection, however, it can become malignant. An unwelcomed guest in the head, preventing the action that is needed to overcome the state itself; a self-perpetuating cyclical process that can freeze and incapacitate.
