Luminiflora Lucida, meaning light-bearing flower, is a bioluminescent species in the Nereid Petalus cluster. It grows 20-40 cm tall with a slender, flexible stem that supports phototropic growth. Its spiral-arranged translucent petals display a soft lavender hue with violet and orange speckles. Lower petals emit a vivid reddish-orange glow from luminescent cells producing 420-490 nm blue-green light, attracting nocturnal pollinators. Native to tropical cloud forests, it thrives in cool, humid (15-25°C) filtered sunlight environments. Taxonomically, it belongs to a family of ten bioluminescent species with delicate petals. Ecologically, it facilitates nocturnal pollination by guiding nocturnal insects. The species is vulnerable, requiring conservation of its cloud forest habitat.
