Photoflora Lumistral, from Latin 'photo' (light) and 'flora' (flower) with 'lumistral' denoting its radiant luminescence, is a bioluminescent species in the Celestiflorae Petaloid cluster. It stands 15-30 cm tall, weighing 10-25 g. The flower has translucent, broad petals with deep blue to soft violet gradients, emitting gentle light at 420-490 nm. Finely ribbed petals surround filament-like stamens topped with luminous anthers, enhancing light dispersal. The slender, flexible stem adapts to the tropical rainforest understory (20-30°C, humid, low light). Bioluminescence derives from photoproteins in stamens, attracting nocturnal pollinators like moths and glow-worms for cross-pollination. In family Celestifloraceae, genus Photoflora, P. Lumistral supports pollinator sustenance and biodiversity. Classified as vulnerable, ~200 known species require conservation.
