It features delicate, translucent, radially symmetrical petals with undulating margins, broad orbicular leaves, and slender branching stems (30-50 cm, 15-50 g) exhibiting a reddish to golden glow at nodes. Bioluminescence occurs in the blue-green spectrum (470-530 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase system in floral and foliar tissues, highlighted by luminescent cell clusters along veins. Native to tropical rainforest understories, it thrives in 15-25°C humid, shaded habitats. Ecologically, it attracts nocturnal pollinators like moths and bioluminescent beetles, with its swaying bioluminescent display enhancing pollination during crepuscular periods.
