Luminifera Mirabilis, meaning 'light-bearing marvel,' is a bioluminescent fungus endemic to tropical forest floors. Its fruiting bodies reach up to 15 cm, with translucent caps displaying undulating margins, vivid turquoise and pale pink hues, and yellow-magenta central spots. The slender stipe has yellow-orange pigmentation and white fibrillose markings. Bioluminescence spans 470-530 nm, typical of the fungal luciferin-luciferase system, attracting arthropods for spore dispersal. It thrives on decomposing organic matter in warm (5-25°C), humid tropical environments. Taxonomically, it belongs to the Irido Myco cluster of soft basidiomycetes exhibiting growth-based movement. Its mycelium aids lignocellulose decomposition, supporting soil health and rainforest biodiversity. Though rare, it is locally abundant within a genus of 20 species.
