Luminicus Mysticora, a bioluminescent fungal species of the Mycenaceae family (genus Luminicus, order Agaricales), exhibits clustered fruiting bodies with convex to funnel-shaped caps up to 15 cm tall. Caps are smooth, moist, translucent purple with bright yellow-orange luminescent edges and spots. Its hymenium has closely spaced, decurrent gills, and smooth purple stipes. Bioluminescence (420-490 nm) arises from luciferin-luciferase systems along gill margins and cap edges, likely attracting nocturnal insects for spore dispersal. Native to tropical cloud forests at 10-20°C, it decomposes hardwood, with a violet-glowing mycelial mat crucial for nutrient cycling. Spore dispersal is wind-assisted, enhanced by luminescent nodules. Rare and protected, L. Mysticora is an ecological keystone in the Galactic Mycelium cluster.
