Luminiflora Celestia, named for its light and celestial flower traits, is a rare, protected species in temperate rainforests. It grows 15-30 cm tall, weighing 15-50g, with multiple radially symmetrical inflorescences featuring ribbed petals shaded from deep indigo to soft violet. Elongated stamens with pollen-laden spherical anthers extend beyond petals, forming a starburst. Leaves have undulating surfaces with parallel venation and a bluish tint. Bioluminescence, primarily blue spectrum (450-495 nm), arises from photoproteins in stamen tissues, glowing softly and intensifying in low light. Movement by air currents likely enhances light dispersion and pollinator attraction. Part of the 'Nocturnalis Flora' genus with ~10 species, it thrives in cool, moist (10-20°C) shaded understories, using luminous flowers to attract nocturnal pollinators like moths and beetles for cross-pollination.
