Luminifloris Azurae, from Latin 'luminis' (light) and 'azurae' (blue), is a bioluminescent marine flowering plant in the Herbaceous Scintillans cluster. It features herbaceous, semi-translucent petals with layered radial symmetry and venation resembling aquatic fronds, emitting blue light (420-490nm) contrasting amber-orange reproductive structures. Stems and petal margins undulate to aid aquatic movement and light diffusion. Found on deep ocean reefs (0-10°C), it measures 20-40 cm tall and weighs 15-50 g. Belonging to Aquafloraceae, genus Luminifloris (10 bioluminescent species), it signals nocturnal luminescent crustacean pollinators. Its rare but stable population thrives in cold, stable marine biotopes, where bioluminescence enhances reproduction and supports symbiotic pollination.
