Luminomyces Auroraflora, a bioluminescent fungus in the order Agaricales, family Luminaceae, genus Luminomyces, features elongated trumpet-shaped fruiting bodies 5–30 cm tall with purple caps bearing wavy margins and bright yellow luminescent speckles. Its gregariously arranged gills facilitate basidiospore dispersal, while translucent stipes show diffuse internal bioluminescence. Emitting blue-green light (420–490 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase reaction, luminescence in caps and upper stipes aids spore dispersal and ecological interactions. Thriving in tropical rainforest understories at 15–25°C, L. Auroraflora is a saprotrophic decomposer of leaf litter and hardwood, using dense mycelial networks to colonize substrates. Bioluminescence likely attracts nocturnal insects, enhancing spore distribution. It is rare but stable among 10 species.
