Bioluminescence, emitting a blue-green glow (450-495 nm), arises from luciferin near petal margins and veins, enhancing nocturnal visibility. Native to tropical rainforest understory, it thrives in shaded, humid 15-25°C environments, grows 10-30 cm tall, weighs 5-25 g, and aids nocturnal pollination by moths and glow-worms, highlighting its evolutionary role within Aureliaceae.
