Noctilumina Floralis, named from Latin 'nocti' (night) and 'lumina' (light), is a rare bioluminescent flowering species endemic to tropical rainforest canopies. It features a dense, chrysanthemum-like capitulum with tubular petals in concentric whorls, showing violet to pink luminescence at the center. Petals have fine parallel venation, supported by a 10-25 cm slender stem enabling light-responsive swaying to attract nocturnal pollinators. Bioluminescence emits blue-green light (450-495 nm) via luciferin oxidation in petal epidermal cells. Thriving in 15-25°C humid, shaded canopy conditions, N. Floralis belongs to the Nocturnalis Flora cluster of 20 species. It symbiotically interacts with nocturnal moths and bats, relying on light and motion cues for pollination. Classified as a rare protected species, it is key for tropical biodiversity and conservation.
