Luminosa Petalia, named for its luminous, petal-like structure, is a rare, stable species from the Nereid Petalus cluster, standing 10-25 cm tall with a slender stem supporting translucent, ruffled petals in concentric whorls. Petals show a peach to coral gradient with phosphorescent orange nodules emitting blue-green bioluminescence (470-530 nm) via photocytes, enhancing visibility in dim tropical rainforest understories. Thin leaves with subtle venation sway to disperse light. Thriving in shaded, humid microhabitats at 15-30°C, it attracts nocturnal pollinators like moths and glow-worms. Belonging to genus Luminosa within a 100-species cluster, its bioluminescence-driven pollination fosters vital mutualism and biodiversity.
