Pithius is one of the Seven Princes of Hell and the ruler of the eighth circle in the Inferno; Fraud. It is here that Pithius indulges himself in the pleasure of having to bestow heinous and unspeakable tortures to those whom have committed the act of fraud within the eighth circle of the Malebolge. It is also shown that Pithius commands the twelve demons of the Malebranche to roam their respective ditches in the Malebolge and proceed with the tortures that is fitting to the sinners whom forever burn in the bolgia's boiling lakes.
