Impression, soleil levant is a painting by the French painter Claude Monet, made in 1872. The painting is credited with the very origin of the Impressionist movement. The work is exhibited at the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris. It is a canvas where the cardinal principles of Impressionism are already perfectly delineated. To be depicted is a morning glimpse of the port of Le Havre, surrounded by an impalpable and dull fog that makes everything blurry and indefinite. In the foreground we find, arranged diagonally from left to right, three small boats that, with placid remilies, sail the harbour waters. The most sceptical say that these works are false, experts say they are imitations. WHAT DO YOU SAY?
