Ever since the 90s I've tried to create at least one Halloween themed render each year. Sometimes I go overboard with the pumpkins and other fun tropes and sometimes I try to create something that will make a great wallpaper year 'round. In 2014 my son Ian was planning to dress up as a black angel for Halloween. This brought to mind my years at the U of Iowa in Iowa City where there's an infamous black angel statue in Oakland Cemetery. Local legends hold that if you kiss the statue you will drop dead within a year. I always thought it was an amazing statue in an amazing setting and I sought to capture it here. Most folks who have never been to Iowa City love this render because it reminds them of a certain famous Doctor Who episode. I am fine with that too (I love the Doctor!) but this is the real story π It's not only one of my most popular Halloween images also a personal favorite and my tribute to the city where Digital Blasphemy was born.
