Before getting married and meeting her lover, a Haitian girl is bathing and purifying her soul under the Saut d'Eau waterfall. Saut-d'Eau is a municipality in the Mirbale district of central Haiti, near the Vedo River. Its French name means waterfall, which is derived from the name of a large waterfall called Le Saut. The waterfall is said to have been created by the great earthquake of May 7, 1842.In the 19th century, the Virgin Mary of the Carmel Mountains is believed to have appeared there on a palm tree.In 1891 a French missionary named Lennoul's father considered the tree of the first appearances a place of superstition and cut it down. After doing so, he went to church, lost consciousness, and died the same day. This waterfall is very sacred to the people of Haiti and many people come there every year to purify their souls. In this collection, I tried to show a corner of the spiritual ceremonies of the people there by combining digital painting, music, sound and motion.
