New Zealand's only native owl, the Ruru/Morepork, often heard but rarely seen. This image has a lot of meaning to me. My partner and I spent over a year trying to track them down, bush bashing through countless forests to no avail. We finally stumbled upon this beautiful one, camouflaged amongst the dead Punga ferns. It sat still long enough for me to capture one image before it disappeared deep into the forest. This image comes with a special gift in the form of an A2 print on cotton rag paper, sent anywhere in the world.
