I kind of have a thing for mud tiles. So when I went to Death Valley this year, one of my main priorities was to find a lot of different examples and try to spend time with them in good light. Mission Accomplished! Tiles like this are a great marker for how weather moves, creates paths, and reshapes terrain on a daily, and a seasonal basis. We found this particular formation at the out flow of a canyon system just as it pours out onto the flats of Badwater Basin. I can't wait to go back!
