"Onii-san, are you lost?" The black priests of the Eastern Kingdom are a division female servants that serves the royal families. They usher and celebrate the birth of a new royal with a series of ceremonies and customs that has been passed down through generations. Trained from a very young age, sometimes these young girls yearn to sneak out of the palace area to get glimpse of the outside world & affairs. This artwork is done exclusively in scratchboard/engraving techniques, marrying a classic art technique with modern manga style. Engraving is a technique of using only black ink on a scratchboard, & meticulously scratching out the inks to create gradation, this results in a unique texture & pattern that is still currently impossible to imitate using automated brush techniques. As evident from a Google search, engraved manga art is extremely rare, if not almost non-existent. And surely, this is the first piece of engraved manga in Foundation app.
