Mataranka Thermal Springs are located in Elsey National Park near the town of Mataranka an hour south of Katherine in the Northern Territories of Australia. It is a vivid turquoise natural spring of warm water surrounded by a forest of pandanas palm trees which are home to a colony of little red fruit-bats that can give off a strong odour. The water temperature is constantly about 28℃ / 82 ℉. The springs are closed during the rainy season (October to April) due to flooding and the possibility of crocodiles.
