The tragic result of Worlds Unlimited "Project Phantom" led to a worldwide ban on human consciousness transfers. Known only as Phantom, a former human soldier whose fate was determined by Worlds Unlimited scientists, and thrown into a world he did not ask for nor consent to participate. Prior to his life as a synth, Phantom was terminally ill and moments before death, his brain synapses were converted to data within the body of the new 12S model. Soon after his rebirth, it became clear that Phantom was experiencing a constant torture-like state, oscillating between the verge of death and realization of life. Hun operatives organized his capture and subsequent rehabilitation on the surface. Under the protection of Alexandria, Phantom operates in and out of the Hun communities, helping where he can but leading a life of isolation.
