Once in a while, something comes along that changes the way you see the night. This past June I finally got to witness the sea light up in a breathtaking array of blue swirls. This special event has a name. It's called "Bioluminescence" and it showed up out of nowhere. When the stars aligned (literally) I had to pick my jaw up off the ground long enough to photograph the Milky Way and haystacks that overlooked this beautiful blue glow on the ocean. Here is a poem I wrote inspired by this image: "I wonder about magic sprinkled in the sea. A nocturnal blanket. Swirls that are free. Microbial lessons taught by the night. Carried by day, As I sit here and write... My eyes cannot see all that is real. I promise today, I'll do more than just feel". -KRL-
