As a kid with creative imagination, I often had daydreams, off to places I wasn't privileged to go to in reality. I would look at the most beautiful drawings and imagine myself into those colorful worlds, they got so vivid I sometimes felt I could somehow reach out and run my fingers through the surface of the lake of my imagination or feel the chill of the woody night on my skin. As I grew up and my imagination seemed to mature alongside me, I found that the musings of my childhood stayed with me to be triggered sometimes by a word, smell, thought, view, or action, bringing with it a feeling of something I could lean forward to grasp but still in a way, unattainable. This work draws out those childhood memories and makes me sift through them with a clarity that the maturity and years of growing up have previously denied me.
