This tree was not always alone. There was a time when this tree towered among other live oaks beside lush palmettos, safely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. After constant years of wind, hurricanes, and rising tides, this Live Oak has been forced to accept the Atlantic as more than just a comfortable neighbor. At low tide, this tree shows what was once a beautiful and vibrant oak tree, but only for a moment before the tide hides its beauty underneath the pounding waves of the Atlantic.
