On a clear night in eastern Washington I was driving along when I spotted an old abandoned house at a junction. I pulled over, hopped out of my car, and bore witness to a marvelous scene of starlight and vast expanse of plains around me. The house stood steadfast, a sentinel to our galaxy, watching me as I took the shot.
