After more than 40,000 earthquakes in the span of three weeks in Southwest Iceland, on March 19th 2021 there was a volcanic eruption that is still taking place in Fagradalsfjall. I took my drone up close and personal to the recent crater that is very active currently. Seeing the fountains of fire splashing out of the crater was one of the most majestic experiences in my life. Some may think of volcanic eruptions as a violent force of nature, but to me it was poetically sublime. The hike was very intense especially for a person who had recovered from covid with weak lungs and muscles, but the passion to experience it in person pushed me forward until I reached this spectacular site. Special thanks to my drone for never failing me in all types of situations- whether it's in a blizzard or on top of a volcano.
