The Jaquelotl is the first animal in my new NFT Collection, Where the Fantastic Creatures are Found. The Jaquelotl is born of my fascination with alebrijes, vividly colorful papier mâché sculptures of whimsical animals created by the Mexican artist Pedro Linares. My Jaquelotl takes inspiration from these remarkable sculptures - that’s why I have depicted it in Mexico City. Next year I will launch a new signature project, Where the Fantastic Creatures are Found with my studio, DiBari & Associates (http://www.dibari-id.com/). In cities all around the world, these life-size sculptures of the fantastic creatures will start hiding in plain sight, crouching on roofs, and strolling through alleys. These creatures will challenge the imagination as they strikingly pop out of the everyday cityscapes we are used to. They will begin life as an NFT collection before starting their journey, from the digital world to tangible, 3D-printed statues in cities across the world.
