The chess figures in this image are a vintage 1960s Duncan medieval design that was cast using Grey Mountain clay (Yukon) and trimmed with locally-mined glazed gold. The original pieces were created by a potter from Whitehorse; I purchased the set at the Yukon Gallery back in the 1980s and finally shot a macro series of the pieces, something I had been meaning to do for years, as a lock-down project in autumn 2020. This image of the white king is the centerpiece of the series of 7 images.
