Bodos of Assam The Bodos are an ethnic and linguistic aboriginal group of the Brahmaputra valley in Assam. They traditionally practise Bathouism, which is the worshiping of ancestors, known as Obonglaoree. The shijou plant (Euphorbia genus) is taken as the symbol of Bathou and worshiped. The Bodos were the first to cultivate rice and rear silkworms. Over the years, they have mastered the skill of creating several products from bamboo.
