गणानां त्वा गणपतिं हवामहे कविं कवीनामुपमश्रवस्तमम्। ज्येष्ठराजं ब्रह्मणां ब्रह्मणस्पत आ नः शृण्वन्नूतिभिः सीद सादनम्॥ Rig Veda 2.23.1 O leader of the Ganas, the wisdom of the wise, glorious beyond glory. With your command over verses and prayers, come to us, be present with us. We invoke you - energize us with your wisdom, steer us with your majestic presence. The climate emergency is real. Rising sea levels threaten coastal cities and islands. We dwell on a rare sculpted form of Ganesha standing, the elephant headed god, the one wiser than the wisest - to stride into the city which venerates him the most. Flooded and sinking, the city receives hope and strength from his presence. The 108 names etched on his body multiplied by the 4 directions : 432 facets making up his colossus form. We invoke his names and his image (reflecting the sky, a green Earth and the ocean), to harmonize humans with their planet. This Ganesh Chaturthi 2021, we dedicate this artwork to our climate warriors.
