This work is a conceptual piece of art made by Igor Tsvetkov for a series about the life of Ernst Kuсhling, which he is working on together with curator Rolf Kuchling, Ernst's nephew. Ernst Kuсhling was an artist, fashion designer, actor, icon of the German LGBTQ+ scene, during the Cold War and the Berlin Wall time. The title at the bottom - “It Is Not the Homosexual Who Is Perverse, But the Society in Which He Lives” (German: “Nicht der Homosexuelle ist pervers, sondern die Situation, in der er lebt”) is a name of the German film directed by Rosa von Praunheim in 1971, where Ernst Kuсhling played the main role. The series will be based on archival materials from the Kuсhling family, diaries, letters and sketches belonging to Ernst.
