A few years back, some friends and I decided to do a late autumn trip to the Svalbard archipelago. There was a blood moon event and we were incredibly excited by the opportunity to witness it so far north. Our local fixer, picked us up in her boat and manoeuvred her way across the ferocious Icefjord. Skansenbukta was our destination for the night. Upon our arrival, the weather was nice and the tide was super high because of the forthcoming blood moon event, we could almost moor the boat to the old trapper cabin. We went to sleep and the next morning is something I wouldn't wish on anyone - the temperature had dropped from 0 degrees Celsius to -16 - and the tide had gone out far beyond our expectations. The boat was too heavy to drag manually, so we had to wait for high tide again - having to physically stand in the freezing water, without waders, and drag the boat out again. I have never been so cold in my life, and have had permanent frost damage ever since. 3930 x 4912 | 240dpi
