This piece was inspired by a simple animation of rectangular rods by @seohyo. I wondered what it would look like if those rods were made of wood and used to form the contours of a human face, moving in and out to recreate facial expressions, a kind of steampunk 3D video conference box. I used my image node to carve a slow motion video of my own face into those wooden rods. I find the result a tad disturbing, but it is so far the most popular animation in my Instagram portfolio.
