Mount Blackburn is the mountain you see at the end of the road in this image, it stands at 2490 metres. This image for me is probably one of my all time favourite unplanned images. It started out with a group of mates heading to Aoraki/Mount Cook Village to do the Red Tarns track for Sunset. We got to the top just in time for sunset, and what a beautiful sunset it was. Since we were in no rush to be anywhere, we all decided to hang around up there until the stars came out to play. Before leaving the National Park to head back home to Twizel, I decided to check out how the Milky Way was positioned. To only find out it was in a prime position for this image composition to work. After a few clicks I notice colours similar to a sunrise or sunset scene starting to appear. At first I was confused at why I may be getting these colours, so I checked on my photo planning app to then discover that these colours are being caused by the moon rising. THIS IS THE GALACTIC MOON RISE!!
