Patch Zero is one of the Four Mutants, a living bridge between the truth and the present that mostly forgets it has the job. Patch Zero keeps a private map of the leaning tree, marked with which corners feel kind and which feel watched. On busy market days Patch Zero carries a circuit board carved into a toy boat like a small flag, and stallkeepers nod as it passes. Elders say a name like that tends to find its way onto the next mural, whether Patch Zero agrees or not. First Canis Sapien detail: Patch Zero wears the split coat history gave him, white on one side and brown on the other, with a notch in one ear shaped like a bite from a story nobody is allowed to finish. He chose the bowl in the first room test, which he still considers correct because home is where dinner happens, and most arguments he forgets before he can lose them. Other pups stare when he whispers good boy at the wrong moment, then they forgive him because Patch Zero forgets who they are too, and that feels fair. Legendary detail: When the campfire talk turns serious, pups mention Patch Zero alongside the line the archive once spoke into the Continuity Wing, primary four subjects detected, because Clutch is not treated as decoration in The Yard.
