In The Yard, Pertinax is known as a Cane Corso who is thoughtful, slow to speak, and absolutely the last word in any room. On most mornings Pertinax can be found near the rooftop kennels, doing very little and calling it research. When Pertinax sits down anywhere near the flooded market halls, conversation reorganises itself politely around them. Pertinax chases the kind of small purpose that fits in a coat pocket and refuses to leave.
