Tu's reference is the Year of the Rabbit of Lunar New Year The rabbit (兔) is the fourth in the twelve-year cycle of animals that appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The Year of the Rabbit is associated with the Earthly Branch symbol 卯. Rabbits are naturally talented. They love needlework, especially knitting, embroidery or woodwork. They have excellent taste and unconventional thinking, which allows them to create bold images of ordinary things and stand out from the grey masses. They like to decorate their homes, collect antiques and works of art. According to one legend, there is a reason for the order of the animals in the cycle. The story goes that a race was held to cross a great river, and the order of the animals in the cycle was based upon their order in finishing the race. In this story, the tiger and rabbit came third and forth because both are fast and competitive. Tiger was faster and the rabbit got across the river by hopping on stepping stones and a floating log.
