Mila was ten years old when the event known as The Calamity struck her homeworld. Several years later, growing up as a precocious artist on an enormous orbiting space station called the Thalia, Mila began to realize that her paintings seemed to be able to alter reality. For years she believed that she had somehow become the keeper of a magic gummy eraser, but recently she has come to understand that this slow but immensely powerful magic, if that is what it is, is in Mila herself.
