Abandoned by her mother on a downtown corner, Nancy grew up a tough, smart, and resourceful child of the streets. Nancy and her little brother have learned to depend on each other and a small circle of friends over the years, and Nancy has become a sort of den mother for the crew. No one really realized the significance of this dynamic, however, until Nancy spent some time in a local tavern hanging out with a whole cast of misfits, got a makeover, and revealed that she was femme. She then had to explain to her friends what girls are.
